The Photograph
Not all of Yosemite National Park is of the scale of grand magnificence. Some of its beauty lies within the small things, the little details.
These little things go largely unnoticed by the millions of people that visit the park annually and I think that this photograph represents the beauty of the Yosemite Valley in its simplicity. It is a small composition of the grandeur of some of the more unnoticed things that make up the whole of the Valley.
This photograph was made in the cold (19 °F) early morning hours, a beautiful morning at the base of the Great El Capitan rock face. The early sunrise light gives this photograph a feeling of warmth that stands as a great contrast to the cool colors of the frost and decay of the understory.
