The Photograph
On a cool April day while down near Dana Point and was greeted by a very, very rare site, a schooner off the coast.
After a bit of searching the tall ships registries to find her name I was lucky enough to find her. She's the Stad Amsterdam, newly arrived here in our neighborhood of the Pacific for a short stay in San Diego.
Ships, schooners and other tall ships are fairly easy to identify. All you need is some pretty fair knowledge of their construction and how they are rigged, to which I must say I have more than enough.
The clouds, the sea and the sky were in rare form that day. It was extremely windy so getting this photo was a bit of a crap-shoot. I was lucky to have seen it and to have gotten a photograph of it. Stormy yet sunny. Isn't she a beauty?
